Nuggets Crush Lakers in Preseason Opener

DENVER, Colo. – Nikola Jokic put up a dominant performance as the visiting Denver Nuggets defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 126-108 in the NBA preseason opener for both teams on Tuesday night at Ball Arena.

Jokic Leads the Way

Jokic, the reigning NBA MVP, finished with 25 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 assists for the Nuggets. He shot 10-of-17 from the field and 3-of-3 from the free throw line. Denver also got strong contributions from Jamal Murray (22 points), Aaron Gordon (18 points), and Michael Porter Jr. (16 points).

Lakers Struggle

The Lakers, who are trying to rebound from a disappointing season, struggled to keep up with the Nuggets. Anthony Davis led Los Angeles with 23 points, while Russell Westbrook added 19 points. LeBron James did not play for the Lakers due to a foot injury.

The Nuggets will host the Golden State Warriors on Thursday night in their second preseason game. The Lakers will be back in action on Wednesday night when they visit the Sacramento Kings.
