After 16 Years Of Representing Great Britain The 27 Year Old Has Decided To Hang Up His Trunks

Tom Daley: Olympic diving champion announces retirement

After 16 years of representing Great Britain, the 27-year-old has decided to hang up his trunks.

Daley, who won gold in the men's synchronised 10m platform at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, made the announcement on social media.

In a statement, he said: "After 16 years of representing Great Britain at diving, I've decided to retire from the sport. This has been the hardest decision of my life, but I know it's the right one for me."

Daley thanked his coaches, family and friends for their support over the years, and said he was looking forward to "the next chapter" in his life.

The Plymouth-born diver has won a total of five Olympic medals, including two golds, two silvers and a bronze. He also won four gold medals at the Commonwealth Games and three at the European Championships.

Daley's retirement marks the end of an era for British diving. He has been a role model for a generation of divers and has helped to raise the profile of the sport in the UK.
