Jacksonville State University (JSU) announced today that head football coach Rich Rodriguez has resigned after leading the Gamecocks for the past six seasons. The team brought in the former Michigan coach in 2013, guiding the program to five Football Championship Series (FCS) playoff appearances.

Rodriguez's Record at JSU

Rodriguez's overall record at JSU was 55-16. Under his leadership, the Gamecocks won one FCS National Championship in 2015 and finished as runners-up the following year. He led the team to four NCAA FCS Playoff Quarterfinals and two semifinal appearances.

Rodriguez's Statement

In a statement released by the university, Rodriguez said, "I am grateful for the opportunity to have coached at Jacksonville State. I am proud of what we accomplished during my time here, and I wish the program all the best in the future."

JSU's Search for a New Head Coach

The university has begun the search for a new head coach. John Grass, who has been the defensive coordinator at JSU the past few seasons, will serve as the interim head coach through the remainder of the 2023 season.
